Why is the composite index of business cycle indicators not provided by press releases on Taiwan Business Indicators?

列印圖示

Since Taiwan and OECD both adopt the concept of growth cycles in compiling business cycle indicators, in order to avoid confusion by all sides, the National Development Council (NDC) press releases on Taiwan Business Indicators will only show “trend-adjusted index” that covers economic cycle fluctuations. The “composite index” that cover the long-term economic trend will no longer be supplied. Those who wish to search composite index may still visit Business Indicators Database website and select the dates they wish to search to download the composite index values. The website is: https://index.ndc.gov.tw/n/en/data/eco. In addition, when NDC releases monthly business cycle indicators, the composite index and trend-adjusted index since 1982 will be provided in “news release attachment series” excel file, which are announced along with news release on the website.
