In order to conduct a comprehensive planning, coordination, review, and resource allocation of national social development policies, the National Development Council set up the Department of Social Development (DSD). The duties of the DSD include: (1) the study of overall social development and cross-national comparisons (2) planning, coordination, and promotion of public opinion surveys on important public policies (3) planning, research and analysis for important social development policy issues (4) the overall review system for social development projects, as well as coordination and promotion of preliminary operation reviews (5) research and analysis on the integration of social development and economic resources (6) improvement of government efficiency and integration of the innovation in government services
There is a director and two deputy directors in the DSD and the department is separated into six sections. The respective titles and duties of each section of DSD are as follows：
Section of Overall Social Development Research：
